Default Auto-dimming mirrors

Does anyone know if exterior mirrors have their own sensor for activating the auto-dimming feature, or is the sensor for all mirrors located on the rear-view mirror? I am wondering because I am unsure if getting my rear windows tinted will effectively make the exterior dimming feature useless. Do those of you with tint have any issues?

Thanks.

I have 28% tint and have no problems at all. Actually I like it better because there's no chance of being blinded with tint and auto dim working together.

Rear view mirror. I have my windows tinted 35% and eveything still works perfect.

That's good news. I really wanted them to keep working. Not having to mess with your side mirrors is a real treat.

Thanks.
