Default Automatic Gear Shifter

about 6 months ago i found a a leather baseball stitched shifter for the A6. Everything in the interior looks sweet except for the shifter.. it looks sort of cheap don't you think? (that part of the console looks wayy better in my passat)

I can't find it anymore, can anyone help? also has anyone changed their shifter and the chrome cover... im looking to replace it with something a little nicer. any suggestions?

Me too! While I do like the look of the stock one, it feels flimsey. I've quietened the rest of the rattles in my interior and that shift **** bugs me. Doesn't feel solid enough.

how did you quiet the rattles in your interior? my center arm rest makes plastic squeaking noise like a F&*king bath toy it's irritating as hell... i don't know how or where to tighten it.

im thinking of taking the gearbox apart and either sand and polish the face plate or get it chromed to match the quattro emblem.. it shouldn't cost too much to do. if anyone comes across a leather baseball stitched shifter hollar @ me. ... or any other suggestions (sans sarcasm).

On mine it wasn't the center counsel. It was the seat belt buckle rubbing against the seat. Pulled each of them back towards the horizonal position and tightened them up. Still one more rattle in the back I need to fix though.

Go here.... http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int.html its on the bottom labeled labeled "Tiptronic shift cover: Brushed Aluminum Project"

yea, i have a few small rattles that i've yet to locate... but the armrest is the worst.

Ok, i read the link... and THAT was painful. maaaan, that was hard to read, it's like "what not to do to your car" one of the worst diy i've seen yet. at anyrate i will do it and actually try the brushed aluminum look.. if i don't like the look i'll go for the chroming.. and i'll post pics when i'm done.

The only thing i need now is a stitched leather **** and I'm set. I've seen it before but now I can't find it. btw, thanks for ur help frank!

Lol. That it is. Just the same. His end result was ok and we who are a little more careful can really make it look good.

one would think that you might be able to use a chrome colored paint after the sanding and fine touches.
