Default 2001 A6 4.2 Mufflers?

Tanks Mr.D
Yes was thinking of magnaflow mufflers.
Was not sure which ones to get?
The 2001 A6 has a weird looking thing on there from factory.
I was trying to measure and have to have room for the ends to curve down.
I don’t think I have I the ***** to cut open the back bumper to bring the ends out.
It would look a lot cooler that way but its allot of hacking and afraid of F<?<ing it up!!

I've got milltek hi-flow cat and resonated cat back exhaust installed in a '02 S6 and I've been happy with them. They are little quiter than the magnaflow but have a very nice v8 sound. Downside expensive and they really don't add much in the way of performance. You didn't ask this but if you ever go the high flow cat route, you will get a cel and will need to get an adapater for your post o2 sensors to clear (and more than likely will need to change both sensors out, which adds cost). Magnaflow or Milltek, either way you'll be happy with the sound.

My o2 sensors are upstream of my cats... they're hollow now and I've never got a cel from them.

01 4.2.

Doesn't make sense - your car is an 01, under OBD2 control. You have four O2 sensors. Two are pre-cat, for fuel mixture control feedback, and two are post-cat, for the ECU to take comparative measurements against the primary O2s to determine catalyst functionality. If you straightpiped the exhaust and have no CEL yet, it's only a matter of time.

Default Nothing after cats.

Going on a month now and no CEL. I was under there for over 3 hours getting the job done and I saw no O2 sensors after the cats. I'll put it up on stands today and snap a couple photos. Are you sure you're not talking about the pre-cats?

bentley manual... In the exhaust section, page 26-7 , it clearly shows all four of the O2 sensors before the primary cats. ETKA shows it wrong, they show the same diagram for the entire A6 line - common issue of ETKA, regardless of version (running 759 here).
