Default Beware if Dension IceLinks on ebay

I bought one 5 months ago on eBay. It turns out that DensionUSA (the importer to the US for Dension) isn't exactly legitimate. Dension canceled their partnership with DensionUSA after learning they reversed engineered Dension's products and created phony Icelinks and sold them on eBay. The fake Icelinks are so good, that Dension can't tell them apart. Dension has voided the warranty of all Icelinks sold in the US via eBay. DensionUSA is now Dice Electronic, which of course says they cannot support the Icelinks.

I learned all this while trying to get my Icelink serviced and found that no one in the world (really) is willing to touch it. They all say Dension does not support eBay sold Icelinks. A distributor in Canada filled me in as to why. I have no idea is my Icelink is real or fake, all I know is Dension says they will not service it since it was bought in the US off eBay.

Another reason to just purchase the factory Audi one.

The factory units don't have the option to control directly from the Ipod...

I'vehad both- first one was from a Canadian seller on ebay then I bought an Audi one from an authorised Dension reseller in the UK.

Ended up returning both for a Kenwood Media Unit (!)

Call :
AutoMobility Distribution Inc.
info.mtl@automob.ca
400 Wright St.
Montreal, Quebec, H4N 1M6
Tel.: 514.745.8030 Toll Free Phone: 1.888.55.START
Fax: 514.745.6068 Toll Free: 1.888.553.7827

Ask them for the main Dension support #. The main office will warranty the Icelink, but the cost of shipping is ridiculous. I believe it is in Hungary, (it was a long time ago). After figuring out when they are open (there time) and calling them at lets say 2am our time you can talk with a support rep. It turned out my Icelink had a bad wiring harness and they would ship me a new one. But with the cost of the part and the shipping it came to 97.00 US dollars. I never completed the transaction and just bought a Phatbox. Who of course went out of business shortly there after.

What are the problems you are having with your Icelink?

Thanks Jeff
Mine is would only play the firts two songs then skip (before that was working fine)
i am going to try to update the software (currently2.07 to 2.15) if that does not work i will try to reboot it by unpluging it but that is a lot of work since i will have to pull the head unit out and do not have the radio removal keys.
If nothing works i guess i will buy something else i paid about $60for it and would not be cost effective to send it back and + the head ache
Thanks for the input
