Default Bluetooth Issue

I'm a newbie to this forum. I owned a 2001 A6 which disintigrated after I put 100,000 miles on it. Anyway, I came back for more and bought a 2005 A6. It's a totally different car and I'm very satisfied with it except for an issue with the Bluetooth connection.

When I bought the car, I had a Motorola V551 phone which connected perfectly with the car. All of the functions worked. Unfortunately, I dropped the phone a couple of times and had to buy a new one (I'm with Cingular). I got the Razor V3. It connected but all of the functions didn't work (I couldn't terminate a call. The screen didn't show incoming numbers, etc.). I tried to buy another V551 but the phone is now discontinued. I bought the upgraded model, the V557. It connected, but the phone book didn't load and, again, all of the functions didn't work. I got a list of the compatible phones from the Audi website and, predictably, all of the phones that are compatible with my car are dicontinued models.

Is anyone out there having the same problem with their 2005 A6? Please let me know.

Thanks!

Yeah - I've had the same problem in my 2005 A6. The bluetooth doesn't work on an SPV phone I have. I can make and receive calls but can't see the phone book. The trouble is that although Bluetooth is an overall standard: bluetooth compatible devices should be able to work together in a general way, the standard doesn't include everything. This means that some manufacturers may incorporate 'non-standard' messages and other protocols specifically for their own devices. To cut a very long story short this means that Audi has tested and made bluetooth fully functioning with the compatible devices on the list. Everything else is hit and miss. I've recently picked up an old Nokia 6230i which works in the cradle or via bluetooth perfectly. This has a duplicate SIM - so it's left in the car all the time. It then doesn't matter what my main other phone is.....

Recently switched to Verizon V325i and have had nothing but problems. Car system hangs when call is completed and I have to turn off the phone or car to release it. No fun.

I seem to have resolved my problem just after my initial post. I went to Cingular and bought a new Razor V3. All of the functions work and I'm, now, happy with my Bluetooth function. My nightmare is, "What happens when I change the phone?"
I might be purchasing a new A6 next November. I'm hoping that the new ones have resolved the Bluetooth problem.
