Default RE:

For future reference, the same thing applies to the sun roof. I lost power to my car and the moon roof decided to open all the way and totally quit working. After doing some research, I found that if you unplug your battery for awhile and then hook it back up (maybe 10 minutes....that worked for me), the moon roof worked once again.

My stereo is a different story. It's still not working, however, I think it has to do with the fuse in the back. I'm hoping that's all it is. Will have to give that a try.

Default missing 4 digit code and radio in "SAFE" mode do this

missing 4 digit code and radio in "SAFE" mode do this:

get your VIN # generally on your insurance card & on your car

call Audi USA Customer Service ask where the car was originally sold

call them and ask for the service dept. and they have the code.......

The person helping out is great but may not always be around they may

take a vacation...............

Note: Audi is not suppose to put the code on the paperwork. I hope this was hand written.

and to find out where it originally sold call AudiUSA and give VIN and they will give you who sold it and phone number.....

Post since August... never seen this thread thanks to the "new" retarted forum default outlook...Moreover, probably you fixed it by now.

Anyway, here's my anectode, although I have an aftermarket cd stereo (Kenwood), and the guys in here talk mostly about the unlocking safety code. But this may apply to you (if you didn't fix it by now):
I replaced the heater core back in July, hence I had to pull apart the center stack. After finishing the replacement, I wanted to get everything back together, but the radio didn't work anymore. As I started my daily commuting season of work, I had to drive the car with the center stack out until last month when the season was over and I had time to troubleshoot (both, the heater -as I didn't have heat, and the radio)
In any event, it turned out that the damn fuse in the engine bay (not the mini fuse in the back of the unit) wasn't making good contact anymore, even though was looking GOOD, unburned!
I couldn't really figured out why is not working anymore, so as a last resort, I replaced the fuse with a different one that I filed gently its contact blades.
That was it... a damn simple thing that almost drove me to buy a new head unit...
Just because a fuse looks good, doesn't necessarily mean it is good. The blades get oxidized over time, although they may loook normal.

My radio is in safe mode and looks to be locked out, because none of the buttons are lit. OPTION 1: i will try the disconnecting of battery for 24hrs and see if it will awake OR
OPTION 2: go to Best buy and get after market radio installed.

will post pics of my lovely A6 soon
