Default Brake Light Warning

I've got a 2002 A6 3.0. Lately, I've been getting the amber warning light- "BRAKE LIGHT". I've checked out the brake lights and they all seem to be working. My High Mounted Brake Light has a few of the LED's out, so I replaced that module. Still the warning light. Any ideas on why this warning continues...and how I can stop it?

Default Brake Light

Hi, If the brake light you're seing is in the driver information center, is amber colored and looks like this, "(O)" its an indicator to let you know that your front brake pads are down to the wear sensors and need replacement.

Thanks, but it's not the worn brake pad indicator. IT's the advisory that I have a brake light out somewhere. It actually says, "BRAKE LIGHT". But all lights are on, so I'm a little frustrated on what might be causing the warning. Known issue w/ Audis??

Default Brake Light

OK...sorry, I guess I misunderstood your original post. The indicator you're refering too is a similar symbol as listed in my thread, but has a ightbulb symbol with an X accross it.

This is an indicator that a bulb is out, but its not only for the brake lights and can be triggered by another bulb that may be blown or not working. I'd double check witht the help of a second person, turn on all of your lights, have them depress the brake pedal and then check all of your lights again. Make sure to check them all, (park, running, back-ups, fogs, emergency flashers and all signal lights). If none of these lights are out then you defintely have a more serious problem that I have never experienced. Good luck with it.
