Default Brake Light Warning

I recently bought a 2002 A6 Quattro and am glad I didnt go for other options I was thinking of.

Today, I started getting a brake light warning and long annoying Beep, when I start the car and press the brake, just prior to move the stick to Drive. Can someone guide as to what may be wrong. And how it can be fixed. Thanks a lot!

You problaby have a bulb which is out, have someone check while you hold the break with your lights on, go from there
