Brake lights not working - can't move the gear shifter
Hi, I am new to the forums and need some help. I have a 1999 Audi A6: my brake lights quit working today. Furthermore, I can't seem to be able to change gears after pressing the brake pedal and the car is stuck in park mode.
I'd like to check the fuses. Does anyone who where the fuse box is located and which fuse number to look for?
thanks much!

Bad brake light switch, its prohibiting you from changing gears too. Take off the panel above the pedals (under the dash) and locate the switch right above the brake pedal. Pop it out and slap a new one in.

Just wanted to follow up on this post to report that the issue has been resolved. thanks for your insight auditech79!
in my case the car wouldn't change gears, even after changing out the brake light switch (I called up the audi dealer closest to me and purchased a 2 pin brake light switch.) Then i proceeded to the fuse box where i found a burn fuse for the brake lights. I put a new 10amp fuse and all is fine again.
