Default Brake Pad suggestions: 2006 A6 Quattro

Hey guys,

Just got the wife an '06 A6 Quattro, with only 20k on the odo and CPO warranty.

The dealer replaced the front pads, but MAN do they dust up the wheels!

Beyond a doubt, stopping power is the most important! But, I need to reduce the dusting.

What are the best options? Hawk HPS? Does Satisfied have GS6 pads for these cars? What else do we have?

Thanks,
Lee Atkinson

Well everyone knows i hate ceramics with a passion, but those are the pads that stop the brake dust. The Hawk pads i HEAR, are pretty good with decent stopping distance, but the more aggressive ones tear up the rotors in a hurry. If you go with ceramics, just be prepared for increase pedal effort, increased heat applied to the pads and rotors, but much less brake dust.

Any idea on the Hawk HPS? I believe they are a composite, not a ceramic.

I'm 43, and have had a wide variety of cars. The only other car that dusted THIS profusely was a Volvo. I ended up with PBR pads on it, and they were a great improvement all around.

Thanks,
Lee
