Default brake piston wont turn on c5

Changing the rotors and brakes on a 2001 a6 quattro 2.8. I have the tool that turns the piston as it pushes. I have the brake fluid cap off under the hood and I even tried with the bleeder screw loose. THe piston barely turned at all clockwise and will not go in or turn. I put lots of pressure on it and even tapped it with a hammer to try to turn it and nothing? Any thoughts?

I had a similiar problem using a Harbor Freight tool. I lost the set screw and did not realize I was pushing on the piston and not turning it. I made a new set screw out of a small bolt and it worked fine.

Hope you are doing this for the rear brake? Front ones do not require turning. Also did you remember to disengage the parking brake?

Sounds like time for a new caliper, cowboy.

LOL Had all the problems mentioned here - including the set screw. Once I had to use a large pair of Channel locks to get the piston to start moving. I probably should have replaced the caliper but I was cheep.

All good comments and sugestions--

Maybe less bull and more work would help the cowboy ride with new brakes!!
