Brake problem - rears are doing all the work
Looking for some advice on a brake issue I'm having on my '03 A6. I replaced all the pads and flushed new brake fluid through the lines some time ago and ever since then the rear brakes work fine but the front don't work much at all. I know this because it doesn't stop real well and the rear pads are wearing while the fronts aren't at all.
I went back and bled the brakes again thinking I had air in the front lines but this didn't really help. Could it be the master cylinder isn't working for the front brakes?
Thanks for any thoughts!

I think I recall reading here or at the Bentley Forum that you have to bleed the ABS system with a pressure bleeder.
Is your ABS warning light on?
I don't know if there IS a proportioning valve on an ABS system, that needs to be reset when you open the lines, but someone who knows more than I on ABS might tell you the ABS system itself needs a specific bleed sequence.
Cheers,
George

Thanks for the reply. I'd heard a special tool was required to bleed the ABS brakes, but also from another source that it wasn't. I know a local shop that does good work so at this point I think I'll ask them to bleed the brakes with their equipment.
