Default Brake upgrades

Considering I drive around a 2 ton steel pony at nearly 80mph during rush hour I have been thinking about making sure my brakes are beefy. I heard you can put the calipers from an a8 on an a6? Would I need to swap the master cylinder for that also or would the stock a6 master be adequate? What about other brake upgrades like some porsche brakes or big brake kits?

Looking for a starting place to stop in a hurry if anyone is in the know

I believe you have 4 pad Lucas calipers. If that is the case, then leave it alone. A8 has 323mm rotors and your rotors are 321mm, and the same thickness. Pads are the same.

I would just get a good set of street performance pads and good set of rotors. Slotted are okay, but not really worth the cost. Just get a good blank rotors like Brembo and etc. As for the pads, I like Hawk HPS, but there are other good pads; however, NEVER EVER USE RACE PADS ON STREET CARS! IT WILL KILL YOU!

Good to know. Just out of curiosity has anyone installed those big brake kits? I dont drive seriously enough to want them but how much of a difference does it make?

Big brake kit will make your car slower. It looks cool though.

Its probably not worth it as stated above but if your interested check out this site: http://www.bira.org

It seems to be long discontinued and have limited info still up but they seem to favor Porsche 996 calipers and probably use a custom bracket to mount them.
