Default brakes

Hi all

I recently changed my stock rotor(orbital slotted)and brakes (new parts from blau parts.com)on my 2000 A6 2.7t . I used mintex (low dust)pads in the red box , now when i step on the brakes after moving i hear a faint knock or hit each time (this only occurs if i am stepping on the brake after driving)
Also when I am at very very low speeds the brakes squeak.
Any suggestions please let me know

Thanks in advance

The squeek could be several things, not having been bed in, no shims or anti squeel past applied, or just the fact that its a european car. My new brakes squeeled for the first week or so until they were finished bedding in. As far as the knock is concerned, I had this happen on my Volvo a couple years back. For that car the caliper slide pins were worn and allowed the caliper to move ever so slightly. Now keep in mind the car had 300k miles on it at that time. Aslo loose caliper bolts could give you a knock as well. I would take the wheels off and make sure everything is tight and looks right. I'm sure it is, but you never know if something was overlooked.

I"m going to have to do front brakes on my car very soon, anyone have suggestions for new rotors and pads (keep in mind I have the old 4 pad setup). Also, are there any conversion kits out for 4 pad to 2 pad conversion?

although I am not an expert in my opinion if you are using the car for normal day to day driving I would stay stock.

I do the occational track day if its available. I've heard that the 2 pad systems have a lot less deflection than the 4 pad as well as better fade resistance.

From what I hear the crossdrilled slottedrotors loose a lot of its density and sometimes break whileslottedor cross drilled are alittle. I am just speaking from what has been said to me, maybe a more experienced form member can give you some input
