Broken headlight...its loose (pic included)

I'm not sure what the shiny black stuff is, some type of adhesive I assume. Anyway, the headlight assembly wobbles back and forth, and it appears to be connected to the car just by those two points (which are also gooped up, who knows).
How hard is it to mount a headlight assembly? I plan on opening it up and finding out sometime soon but I wanted to know if there is anything special I should be aware of.
Also, what does a new one cost?
Well just by looking at it I would say that there is a hot wire somewhere because all that goop is melted plastic fromthe headlight. I haven't it like that before. Your looking at about $200 for the head light assembly. I would look at the wiring behing the light, you can remove that back panel easiely and get back there. Does the head light work and if so make sure it grounded.

Yes it works just fine, it just hangs a bit low and therefore my headlights are not aligned properly. And i can't use a screwdriver to fix the alignment, already tried.
I think the black goop looks like black epoxy. Did you put the epoxy on there? If not, did someone try to fix the wobbling headlight in the past by trying to epoxy it to the mount? To me is seems like the headlight mount was broken, someone glued it and now it is broken again. I do not believe it is melted plastic from an overheating wire or bulb. I think that might cause the wire or plug itself to melt. Get yourself some epoxy, and glue it back together. Or just buy a used one off ebay.
Good luck,

Yes it is epoxy...the last owner evidently tried to fix it himself.
I will attempt to take it out myself and see what I can do with it. I'll take more pictures.

That's about the going rate, unless you have xenon then it'll be higher. You could check www.shokan.com or www.4usedaudiparts.com but it's possible that a used light looks like yours does.
