I have a 2006 A6 2lr turbo petrolS line (197 bhp model) and I've owned it from 27000 miles. Its now done 34000 miles and it uses about 1ltr of oil for every 1500 miles.

Audi say this is within their working parameters but its definitely on the high side. Is this normal and is there anything (short of an engine rebuild) that can be done to fix it? Should I be kicking up a fuss with the Audi main dealer where it was bought from? Its going to be over £100 in oil a year!

I've never had a car - newer or older that used so much oil.

Thanks
you think thats bad my brother bought his 2.8liter passat brand new in 2002 with 110 miles on it, the first oil change ok, the second, 1 liter down, so since he bought the car new he has had to put in 1 qt of oil between every oil change,
when purchased the car he brought it back, the dealer told him its normal and within specs, he gave them hell but in the end thre was nothing he could do. not my car but that even made me pissed

Thanks for the replies. The car is going in this weekend for some investigations. I've already said Im not happy but lets see. Unless there's a simple fix (not likely I think) then I may be in for a bit of an argument. I dont expect it will be cheap to strip the head off, replace piston rings or valve seals/seats etc. But thats what the warranty is for.

I noticed the high oil consumption right away when I got the car and highlighted it to the dealer right there and then so it wont be a surprise.
