Default To buy list for '01 a6 2.7t

I recently bought a 2001 a6 2.7t (tip) and want to chip it and add parts. So far I've decided to get an engine chip, 2 diverter valves, drop in filters, and spark plugs 1 heat range cooler. Any specific suggestion for which brands to by and what other parts?
I'm trying to decide between an APR Chip or a GIAC Chip. I'll also probably get a GIAC transmission shifter chip.
I live in socal, anybody know a good place to buy all these parts or some good deals?

I would get the car up on the maintenance first. Then do the Chips.

I'm pretty sure they aren't chips they're flashes. You send the ECM and TCM out to be re flashed.

Other parts
Timing belt kit w/tensioner, rollers
Water pump, thermostat
All of the cooling hoses
I use NGK iridium plugs
Valve cover gaskets
Vacuum lines
Change every conceivable fluid in the vehicle
Check your CV boots for cracks or leaks
Check your brakes and rotors
Air, Oil, and Cabin filters
Have the trany serviced
Go easy on the oil with those new air filters it gets all over the MAF sensor if you oil them too much

Then drive it for a couple months to see what else it needs.

Good luck! that outa keep you busy and out of trouble!

Thanks for all the tips. Right now I'm looking to add parts only to upgrade the car not to change any of the engine parts. Air filters and diverter valves are simple. Are there any parts like that you suggest?

Most of his list was parts that deal with "normal" maintenance. If you do not know when they where last done, you should do them before worrying about any upgrades. Make it safe, make it reliable, THEN make it faster!

From another forum: "If you are not sure, they haven't been done."

OBTW: I would avoid any air filter that uses oil. Just not worth damaging a MAF.

I second Jackmup's suggestion. I recently purchased the same car, and hope to get the GIAC chip some day, with Vast piggie down pipes to back it up, but, several months into ownership, I'm still getting the maintenance stuff done, here's a list:

Done by Previous Owner with reciepts:
Brakes, pads and rotors
Timing belt, tensioner, water pump

Done by me:
Transmission fluid/filter change
Valve cover gaskets
cam plug seals
cam tensioner gaskets
new serpentine belt
new PCV breather hose and oil filler cap
replaced some vacuum hoses
replaced diverter valves (710n's) and throttle body boot
refinished headlights and fixed adjusters
sparkplugs

Still to do:
Bleed brakes, check for vacuum leaks/boost leaks, replace torque converter

THEN if all goes well, I'll be ready for the GIAC or APR chip, and the piggies. :-D

Thanks for all of those tips. The thing is maintenance has been taken care of and the seller is trustworthy. There are no necessary maintenance issues.

On another note, I'm planning on purchasing an exhaust. I've been hearing exhausts sound amazing on this car.
