Did the muffler delete my self loved it..little drone at lower rpms,great sound at higher rpms without the constrictive muffler the tranny actually goes thru the gears a lot faster.So It feels and sounds faster.best free mod yet..I had two glass packs put on (2.5 in/out)with 3.5 res tips.that little drone became really loud and almost unbearable between 1300-2200rpms. Muffler delete by itself Sounds 100% better.I'm gonna delete glass packs and run only res tips for now...Next exhaust mod is gonna be ---B6-7 Audi S4 4.2 stock rear mufflers.

 

Need 255/40/17 tires if u hav a decent set hit me up..

 

My (wife's) C5 goes to the shop in a couple of hours for removal of the mufflers and addition of the Magnaflow 35174 resonated tips. Can't wait to hear how the car sounds. Hope I'm as happy with the result as you are. The big question is how the wife feels.......have not told her yet. I'm going to wait for her to drive it!

Cut them mufflers off...probly good idea to keep the same pipe diameter that may help with any drone issues,as the bigger the pipe the more it will echo down low (rpm dange) and drone.I actually made silencers for the glasspacks they work very well and stopd the drone..I used home insulation and had some mesh style gutter gaurd laying around,used spray adhesive on the mesh layed down the insulation then rolled it like a joint and slid it in the first 3-4 inches of the glass pack and the rest was hidden when i replaced the res tips back on. Sound was more toned & almost no drone.. (temporary trial period) just tried to solve a problem and it worked...

 

Mufflers are off and resonators are installed. The resonators fit well in to the factory exhaust tip cut outs. The sound is great, but I did end up with a drone at 2100 rpm +/- 100 rpm.

I waited to hear from the wife yesterday, but no text messages or phone calls. Then I found out she took the Volvo to work since the A6 was low on fuel. She did say it was "loud" when she started it in the garage..............then we went for a drive last night - with the windows down - and she didn't say anything. So I brought up the subject of the exhaust and mentioned the "dead man walking" post, which she thought was very funny. Well, she said it was loud but did not say much more until she asked when I was going to put the mufflers back on. She thought it was temporary! It is amazing how quiet things were for the next 15 minutes.

All is good though in the end, she did assert that I was trying to take over the Audi in jest, but since I have recently acquiesced to the addition of a new kitten AND puppy, I should be okay.
