I think Auditech meant go under the passenger side footwell, not the car itself.

Yes the footwell, getting under the car would be idiotic.

Not too hard, just get under the passenger's footwell, pop down.....
Just get under the car and pop down...
Look guys, I don't know how to better clarify the misunderstanding and not candy-coated, especially with a genuine Audi mechanic expressing his opinion on the matter.
It is far from my intentions to patronize the subject or insult. Are plenty folks on the forum who patronize, so I don't want to become yet "another" one around.

When I say "my laundry room is in the basement, under the house", and "just get under the house floor", where do you exactly understand my basement is located?

I just want to make sure that I understand well the English language so I don't create misunderstanding.
Thanks and again you have my apology.

I guess that does justice to the misunderstanding and "getting under the car will be idiotic" becomes maybe just a slip of the tongue that wasn't called for, and that can be let go...

Thanks.

On the C4 the leaves get in thru the open fresh air flap, as would also dust and just about anything else. There are only two nuts and two bolts holding the glove compartment in place. There are disconnects on the wiring for the glove compartment light and for the trunk release button at the footwell panel. Even with a filter, the leaves and dirt could acumulate. However, if the plenum was not kept full of leaves and dirt, this may not be a problem if the car were not driven on dusty unpaved roads.

Default 97 A6 avant cabin filter

Chefro -- thanks for your great pics! I drove myself crazy trying to find the cabin filter -- but didn't even think to look where your pics clearly show it! Interestingly, my cabin filter is not immediately visible when you pop up the rubber cover like on later models. I have to remove the windshield wipers and other rubber parts to access the 3 screws which "hide" the filter from view. Thanks for the assist!

you're very welcome.
I'm glad my retarded posts from months ago are of some help to (some) fellow Audi owners.

My '96 A6 is has the filter in the same location as Chefro's.. Same procedure to get to it too..

If you look at the Bentley page posted, it's not untill after 4/97 that the filter just pops out with a clip.

This is a great post. Is the procedure the same for my 97'? I read the mention of clips for the 97's.
