Default Can this cylinder head be repaired?

I was told by an auto shop which specializes in head repairs that I need a new head. Apparently, low oil pressure or clogged oil ports caused the camshaft on the passenger side to lockup. See photos - lower left cavity is scratched and heavily scuffed.

I was thinking that using a dremel and fine sandpaper can repair this head since the cam seals are on the outside of the heads. Basically, i need to ensure the cavities are smooth for the camshaft to rotate freely.

Or should I just invest $2100 on another used engine?? I already have the parts for the valve job.

Thanks,

Jim

Why buy a whole engine why not just find a good used head? I dont think that head is repairable at least not economicly repairable.

I've received quotes for $1300 - $1500 on heads only from salvage yards.

It's more complicated than "turns freely". The hole also has to be round, the clearances not too big (or all the oil will go out there and starve the other journals) and the center has to be in the right place. Trust your shop on this one.
