I have an 2002 Audi A6 quattro 3.0, and replacing both cats and sensors.

Can I sell it to a junk yard, the old parts?

You should be able to go to a metal recyclers and get quite a few bucks for the cats. There's all sorts if precious metals in them like platinum, palladium and rhodium.

You can sell the old cats for scrap , but my scrap guy says they are not that valuable because they are foil cats!

Bring them to a recycler & see what they say.

P.S. You will probably be in line with the junkys that cut them out of someones car last nite.

Let us know how you make out $wise. I have a pair of cats in my garage from my downpipe swap and will be taking them to a recycle place in the next couple weeks.

 

i got like $90 per for my A4 ones i take it there like the same size. I looked at my 03 cat and it looks like 1 huge cat but i would say 90 per or 175 as long as the stuff inside is intact

 

Someone offered me 50 per I'm going to keep searching I want at least 150 for both sigh

 

So I sold it for $100 and thank god there were no crack heads in a line. Although, the guy kept asking me where I got the cats, like he didnt hear me say the first time it came out of my car, lol I sure didnt steal it!

They said they didnt want to give more because it was aluminum inside or some crap. My male friend with me said he knew what they were talking about, but didnt know that they placed different premiums on cats.


So I got my cats changed for a total of around 1300 with labor and parts minus the 100 dollar for the cats. for a total of 1200 my job is done and my check engine light is gone and my car is running great!

Just need to change 1 or 2 things more and keep the car another 2 years then sell it.
