Car Alarm & CEL Reset

So I had to get my car opened via locksmith which set off the alarm. I had a CEL before this and when I got in and started the car it was off. Does the alarm reset the CEL?

I doubt it. Otherwise no one needs their dealer/ Vag-com to reset the CEL. Do you know the code your CEL was sending, what yr/model ?
