Default Car computer port

Has anyone ever changed the port from the cars computer? This is the port that you use to hook up your diagnostic machine. The port has gone bad in my 1999 A6 and I can't communicate with my car. If you have changed it is it hard and expensive?

It's simple ellectrical connection with couple dozens of pins. what's wrong with it? Bent pins? You can fix that. Or you can get any used obd2 connector as long as it has enough wires on the back, gut yours off, and put the other one on, connecting wires to the same position in relation to the connector as before.
It's nothing hard, cut and paste. Well, you might have to unscrew something to remove it behind the dash....

I'm having the same prob,I have had the car 3mths now, checked the diagnostic since I've had it,it was all good.Took the car for my inspection,no go,cant communicate with car.The only time I messed with port was when I bought a $11 vag cable off of Ebay.It did work.Should I assume the worst(ECU),or the connection. What the stats on something like this?
