I just bought a 2003 A6, pickingit up tomorrow. I had a weird hitch in the handle of the drivers door. It was one of the things I had the dealer repair in the deal. I will let you know what they did....

From the sounds of it, it might be either the locking mechinism sticking do to contaminates gumming it or the spring being pinched/gummed up, take a look to see if there is an excessive amount of grease or black grime anywhere on the door. I'm no mechanic but thats what I've seen in the past( happens to our company vehicles)

My driver's door handle is a little sticky at one point in it's swing. I lube it regularly and the problem goes away, only to appear again a few days later.

Del23, let us all know what they dealer did.
