cd changer
I have a 2000 2.7t a6. in the trunk under the jack is a shelf and a pin style connector. what is the best option for installing a cd changer. I would like to be able to use the steering wheel to control it and an mp3 version would be nice. i just don't want an aftermarket thing on my dash. any suggestions? prices?

RE: cd changer
I installeda Phatnoise MP3 player. It's great! Plug and play.
Here's one up for bid on eBay now (not my auction):

RE: cd changer
Ive also been looking for a cdchanger that plays MP3s. I saw the phat box, but Ive also seen these all over ebay. Anyone tried this or had any luck? Its one of those alpine MP3 changers that has been converyed to the 13 pin format.

I've also seen adapters wher you can plug your iPod (or whatever) in to a jack in the dash, switch the mode to 'CD' and play tunes right off the mp3 player. It kills the CD though, and your song selection control is through the iPod.

RE: cd changer
I just remembered that I also looked into installing an equalizer with auxilliary 'in' jacks inside the glove box, that way the cd changer would still work and when I plugged in the mp3 source to the aux jack, it would over ride anything coming from the factory stereo in the dash.
This was cheaper than the adapter approach. I haven't done either yet, but it's on the list.
