So I just bought a 2001 a6 from an auction and it did not have the owners manual. For the first week or so the displey showed how many miles were left in the tank. But now for some reason it shown mpg??? Can anyone tell me how to change it back please? Also where to find an online version of the owners manual. Thanks for the help!!!

Someone with a C5 can definitely tell you which of the two ***** in the cluster should manipulate to revert the display to "miles to empty"

 

There is button under the wiper stalk that changes the display. It includes average MPG, instantaneous MPG, range, number of hours driven and I think there is something else, but I I have having a brain fart. IF you hold the button, then it resets the value.

 

in my '02 the button on the bottom of the wiper stalk turns the display on and off, hold to reset values. there is a rocker on the end of the wiper stalk that scrolls up and down through the different information screens
