Can someone tell me how to clear the check engine light in a 1999 a6 wagon 2.8 For some reason we cant use the diagnostic computer to clear the light because the car wont communicate with the machine. So we need to know is their any other way to clear the light?

 

You don't happen to also have an ABS light on, do you? A bad ABS controller can keep you from communicating with the ECU.

 

No abs light on here. Just a check engine light. How do I turn it off? We cant communicate with the port on the car with the 4 different diagnostics machine we used. I also tried removing the battery negative terminal for 5 mintues and nothing. I also tried removing both battery cables and nothing again. Is there another way to get this light off?
