Default Check engine light ???

I got a 2002 A6 two weeks ago, yesterday while driving when coming to a stop the revs came to 0 and then the car stalled few times. Didn't drive it long after that. Later at night I turned it on and there it was the check engine light, I left it alone. This morning i started it put it in reverse and the car stuttered. needless to say it is still at home. Any ideas please, is the car ready for big repair? I think I am protected under NY lemon warranty for 30 days, so I still have time to do something. please advice.

Went to autozone and gave me this code P0102 meaming that the mass air flow input is lower than expected.
from www.obd-codes.com
Symptoms: You will likely not notice any serious drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a general decrease in power or sluggishness.
Causes:
* The MAF may be disconnected, or a wiring connection may be bad
* The MAF may be dirty or otherwise contaminated (Note: if you use a reusable oiled air filter, be careful not to apply too much oil or that can contaminate the MAF).
* The MAF sensor may be faulty
* The vehicle computer may be faulty (very rare)

Possible Solutions: The simplest thing to do is to reset the code and see if it comes back. Then start with the cheapest, easiest repair procedures:

* Verify that the Mass Air Flow Sensor wiring is connected properly and that there are no broken / frayed wires.
* Inspect for any air leaks near the MAF sensor.
* Take the MAF out and clean it using a spray cleaner such as brake cleaner or electrical contact cleaner. Be gentle with the sensor.
* Check the voltage of the MAF sensor (refer to a repair manual for vehicle specific information)
* Replace the MAF sensor.
I tried cleaning the sensor but when i want to remove the screws i found out it has special screws, any idea which tool i need? thanks

torx screws- you can buy them as kit (Sears/AutoZone)- just make sure they have the hole in the center and don't drop the screws-

We've only had moderate success in cleaning MAF. It works about 40% of the time or will only buy you a little time before you have to replace it.

It's worth the $5 or so to clean it.

WHAT EVER YOU DO DO NOT CLEAN IT WITH ANYTHING OTHER THAN MAF CLEANER!

They make a special cleaner (can't remember the name off hand) and it costs $3-$6 depending on where you get it and you don't need much at all so get the smallest can you can. This may be a little bit of a conservative view but given that the retail cost of a MAF is $200-300 it's worth spending a couple extra bucks on the cleaner.
