Default Check Engine Rediness Cycle for Pre Cat and Cat Codes

So have a 2001 Allroad with 138,000 mile and need to clear emissions inspection. I am pulling the pre cat and cat codes, so just cleared them. The system is now in a NOT READY state.

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to return the codes to the READY state? I am driving around in Tiptronic at 4-5k RPM to try to get them to reset as clear and want to bring it in as soon as they may be clear. Otherwise I'll dump $700 on my SAI and go for a state waiver.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Just had the CATs replaced on my 2003 A6 3.0 and it took 100 miles for the READY state.

I changed the battery and inspection garage told me to drive 65-70 miles to bring the computer from sleep back to ready.

Default Thanks

Thanks for the info - my system reset but needed to replace the secondary air pump. I had disconnected it a year ago b/c it was howling on warm up. Had to face the music now with emissions. May be able to squeeze the cats through w/o replacement.

Thanks again!
