I have an 07 A6 3.2. Even in Sport mode, it has an annoying hesitation when trying to accelerate from a stop (pulling out into traffic) and when trying to pass when traveling 30-45 mph. What can I do about this? Would a performance chip help?

Is it an ignition type hesitation or a speed limiter/governor type hesitation?

 

I hit the gas, the car hesitates for .5 sec or so, then acceleration kicks in and off I go

 

Mine is doing the same thing. 2005 A6 4.2.
Any information would be helpful.

The hesitation went away in my 05 4.2 when I changed the tranny and differential fluid. Apparently Audi switched fluid types and that resolved the problem.

I had the same issue on my audi a6 quattro 2003. I changed my transmission control module (car was flooded) and replaced it with a upgraded version supposedly, and now i dont have the hiccup on my initial acceleration.

I had bought my car last week. I asked the dealer to fill it up. I ran that tank out and put super in it, the hesitation seems to be gone now.
But...I'm going to bring the car in and get it completely checked out so no telling what I will find. Car has 75K on it and I have no idea what if any maintenance has been done on it.
