cigarette lighter seems dead
A friend of mine wanted to recharge his cell and plugged in a 12V to 120V inverter into my cigarette lighter. The unit ran for about a mintue or so and stopped. Since then the cigarette lighter seems dead as when i plug in my normal carphone recharger the light won't come on. In addition, I put the cigarette lighter back in too far and now it's stuck so I can't test it with anything else. I checked the manual and located the fuse but it seems to be intact as in the little metal strip in the middle doesn't seem to have broken. Anyone have any ideas as to if this is something I could fix myself or should i take it into the shop? thanks in advance.

RE: cigarette lighter seems dead
Just for the hell of it try swapping the fuse with another of the same amperage rating. Sometimes their bad even thou they dont look bad. As for the lighter getting it out may be a pain. You may have to pry it out with a small screwdriver or something. Sometimes the wings on the side get bent out to far to contact the lighter. If thats the case pull the fuse out and bend them back towards the center.

RE: cigarette lighter seems dead
I doubt the inverter caused the problem, the cig lighter only has 2 wires one = pos the other neg so check each of them and if both have no reading from the cig unit then its the cig unit, test the wires before the cig lighter for power
