Cleaning windshield washer nozzles
1995 A6, 2.8L.
After lots of mileage and using tap water and afew drops of detergent in my washer bottle over time the nozzles were squirting only a short distance. At first I thought it was the pump. Nope.
I popped off both nozzles and blew compressed air thru them. Still N.G. I then immersed them in clear vinegar for 8 hours. Swished them around a few times during the soaking....
Again blew compressed air thru and now they spray just like new. If U don't have air compressor, the vinegar would probably be sufficient. It seemsminerals in the tap water slowly built up and narrowed the orifice or water passages of the nozzles. Try using distilled waterin the washer bottle for greatly reduced minerals compared to most tap water. If U want free distilled water, get it from your home A/C....the water that drips out onto the ground is just like distilled H2O.
Surprisingly the pump still strong after 197,000 miles.
