Clicking Noise when fully turned steering wheel.
I pulled out my A6 2.8 Q out of the garage today. It was standing for the winter.
And now the steering wheel turns to the left ok...and very hard to the right. And the steering pump is giving me a clicking noise....... What could it be? Do i need to replace the pump....??
i also had a clicking noise in my 2.8 when i cut the wheel, but it turned out to be the driver side cv axle. check to see if the boots are ripped, if so it only cost my $100 dollars for the part and installed it myself in about an hours time. sometimes if its not to bad you can try the boot rebuild kit...
Yea it is probably the CV boot. The part only cost $40 for my TT and it is a pretty easy job to do youself in you have a lift. Its like $200 to get done at the dealer
No its not the CV boot or the axles......
The steering pump makes a noise....
The steering wheel turns easy to the left and hard to the right. The Front suspension is brand new. Its something to do with the steering rack. Posible of air lock?

i have the same problem with my steering wheel turning easy to the left and hard to the right, with no clicking though... i just replaced my cv axles... let me know what it is when you find out, its not so bad so im not gonna have it looked at, but if someone knows what the problem is i'll attempt it myself.
if it's air in the pump- to bleed the system you need to turn the wheel back and forth5 or 6 times on most cars- principle should apply for Audi's.I would also consider changing the fluid-
check the power steering hose to the pump, possibly leaking? or check the 2 bolts that are holding the steering rack to the body, possibly need to be tightened. 12 points bolt, one under the battery(need to remove the battery), the other one close to the wiper motor & visible.
need to use 12 points socket wrench. number 10 mm. don't use 6 points socket, it will damage the teeth of the bolts.
and good luck.
