Default climate control pbm

I have a 98 A6Q 30V. The blower motor quits working after about 2 minutes. Everything is lit up OK, the air flaps all move, the A/C compressor is engaged when necessary. I've replaced the fan relay, the blower motor resistor, and the fan itself. It still craps out. I had a shop hook up VAG-COM to the car and it threw a 01273-17-00 (Fresh Air Blower [V2] Control Difference. He said he'd never seen that code before. I've torn my poor car's interior apart to trace a possible short, but everything seems to check out. Anyone have any thoughts? Something other than "it sucks to be you" would be helpful.

Thanks,

C

Never seen that one before either. Somethings up with the control circuit for the blower motor thou. Not sure if thats internal to the ac control head or part of another module.

I was looking through the forums and found the post "Unlocking the Secrest within the Climate Control", and found that the codes don't match up with my unit. However, when I first turn on the car and then access the CC it starts rolling through 3 codes on it's own. They are:

left temp display shows "22" and the right shows "01";
left temp dislplay shows "06" and the right shows "04;
left temp display shows "13" and the right shows "04".

I am assuming that corresponds with the DTC codes of "22.1", "06.4", and "13.4". If that is the case, the first isn't true. The A/C compressor kicks in just fine. The second has to do with the engine coolant temp and a sporadic short - where would I look for that wiring? the third points to the footwell defroster flap motor potentiometer having a sporadic short.

BTW - the sunroof solar panel works fine. It apparently bypasses everything. But, not having a wiring diagram, I have not found its circuit.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I wish it were that easy. I have replaced the blower motor. I have also bench tested the old one (bought the new one anyway, just to make sure) and it spins right up no problem. I am starting to think I have a "ghost in the machine".

I seen some where the A/C has to be programmed but I don't have that data, but you could check fuse F5 15 amp in dash facia end which is the blower motor timer relay, all realys are in the foot well area

the plate for the relay is behind the dash and has 3 relays and 3 fuses below it and 1 to the left your relay is number 3 to the right of that plate, you will need to remove the knee panel to get to it

Thanks! I'll take a look. It should be easy enough to get to.
