I had this issue once and it turned out to be the clamp holding the sleeve of the Tie rod end. It's worth to take a look but it might be something entirely different.

Tie rod (inner or outer), control arm bushing, sway bar end link, CV joint, loose lug bolt, wheel bearing, strut tower bushing, blown strut, subframe bushing...lots of things to look at.

Take a good look at all your suspension ... I had a clunking noise as well and after a good look over I could see the bushings on the sway links were toast. Spent less than $100 and did them myself and noise is all gone. YEAH!
Also with the inspection I could tell I need to start to plan to install some new bushings on the control arms--more so will just do the entire swap so it has fresh ball joints as well.
"ImTheDevil" is right, there are a few things to consider, just take a good look at everything, hope you find out the problem as easy I did.

Well I replaced all the control arms (with bushings) and all 4 struts + the front axles during a 4 day maintenance week, that's when my clonking started.
Anyhow for me it was the clamp of the sleeve for the Tie rod end - simple and easy fix.

I hope it's something simple for you
