Default cluster brake light

so i took my 2001 2.7t in for brake pads and everything went fine but the place i took it to told me they couldnt make the indicator light that tells me i need pads To go away. something about bad wiring and they would have to purchase something from an audi dealership. the car is not under any warrenty but just wondering if there is any other way to get rid of the warning light. I also have an AIRBAG light on. car has never been in any condition to have it gone off. just came on one day. Any ideas anyone. thank you

Default RE: cluster brake light

The brake pad light goes on when thewire in the pad gets broken - meaning that the rotor has worn thru the wire that is imbeded in the pad. If the shop used pads without the wire or didn't reconnect the plug the light will stay on. In some cases thewires running to the wheelscan be bad and inolder cars it can be a poor ground. First I would make sure they connected the plugs at both wheels when they replaced the pads.Next I would make a simple jumper -again both wheels (maybe a paper clip)to see if it turns off the light. If you have a wiring diagram you can figure out the circuit and by pass the wires.

As for the air bag light-- Fooling with the air bag can be dangerous and expensive. Let an Audi tech do that.
