Default Cluster replacement

Hey guys quick question,

I have just bough an 2000A6 2.7T quatro with 72K on it, however it is suffering from the common loss of pixels on the centercluster display. Questions are:

1. Other than taking out the old cluster and puting in the new one in what else will be required to do the repare? (setting the milage corectly etc)

2. can a buy a cluster for a 2002+ car and it will work? (I just like the crome rims arround the clocks.
Thanks
James

1. yes, take old one out, put new clust in. New cluster then needs to be set to mileage of old one.
Your remote FOB may need to be reprogrammed.

2. not sure, your Audi dealer should know. I think the '02 cars had the immobilizer, it's in the cluster, but your 2000 does not.

can I take it from your comment that the 2000 car does not have an immobilizer at all?

Turn the key on and look for a symbol of a car with a key under it. If you have that symbol then you have immobilizer. Otherwise you dont.
