coolant leak

coolant leak
I got an 03 A6 2.7T (not under warranty) with a slow leak in the coolant. Apparently, it’s expensive to fix because of the location (mostly labor cost). If I’m aware of it, check and fill when needed, does it do more harm to just let it go? I don’t know how long I plan on keeping the car.
Also, any good DIY ideas for repairing scuffed stock wheels?

RE: coolant leak
Did they tell you that it's the aux coolant pump? That's what it sounds like. $150 part and 5 hours of labor. It will just continue to get worse for a while, but I have heard of them failing catastrophically. That could leave you stranded. On top of that, the G12 coolant gets pretty expensive if you are topping up frequently.

RE: coolant leak
I have a 2000 2.7. I had the auxillary pump start leaking. It got worse and worse. I got tired of buying that expensive coolant. I had it fixed under warranty for $100. It was an $850 repair because they had to undo the manifold to get to the pump. Yeah, the labor is much more than the actual parts. Good luck
