Default Cost to replace turbo's?

I apologize in advance, I know this question has been answered before, but I've searched for the past few hours and found several different answers, i.e., "7K, 3K, upgrade to k04's" etc.
I know alot of it depends on who does the work, where you get your parts, etc.
My turbo's haven't blown, I just want some more solid #'s on what I may or may not be up against in the future.

Also, when your turbo(s) blow(s), can you still drive the car until you fix them, or no?

Again, sorry for repeating others, but thatnks in advance for any thoughtful replies!

It should be around $729 for one turbo and $1460 for both turbos if they both manage to blow at the same time.

You can install them yourself or have a mechanic do it. Not sure how much a mechanic would charge but I do not think K03's are hard to replace (I'm a newbie so don't quote me on it)

basically if you spend 4 grand you can get k04 a lower bar fueling and an ecu tune ... if one blows replace both because it is a 30 hour job and you have to pull the engine so unless you know what you are doing i wouldnt do it ... you could spend about 2500 for the replacement k03s but why not spend an extra 1500 and get the 4 grand k04 upgrade with fueling n a tune ull be at stage 3- ... more money yet more cost effective

Again, given that my turbos are fine for now, it's all hypothetical, but budget is and will be a concern. The difference between 2500 and 4K is a big one. If money were no object, it would be a no-brainer, but it is! I need to consider that, despite the benefits of up-grading... How much would a reasonable total be for 2 K03 replacemts, including labor?

2500 bucks ... if you need to budget for repairs an audi is probably not the car for you ... these cars are tempermental and if you dont treat them right they will drain your wallet

keep that in mind !!

I'm well aware of the maintainance and repair costs. I've had the car for over a year and done the TB, tires, spark plugs, tranny fluids, brake light switch, coil packs, wheel bearing, pads and rotors, etc. I know about, and have had no problem handling the repair costs, but I don't think that I'm the only audi owner that likes to be able to foresee, prepare for and "budget for repairs".
I don't have to look in the couch for pennies, but I like to have a little notice before I pony up $2500 in cash, that's all...

And also, with regards to my second question, will a blown turbo immediatley render the car stranded, or would it still be driveable?
