could this stupid mistake be an expencive one?
Ok guys be nice to me with this one, I am already feeling bad enough for making such a stupid mistake.
Here goes
This morning when reversed out of my drive and drove to work I did so with the parking break slightly on. I was not on enough to prevent the car from reversing at low speed or from driving forward.
i dont know how I misses the red light that says BREAK and when the car does not beep at something so important (God knows it bongs for everything else) but I did. I work about 7 miles away and when I got there I realized what I had done, the wheels and hubs were hot to the touch as you would expect but there was no smoke and 45 minutes later the heat had dissipated.
So please help me out here, what do I need to check or have checked and how expensive could this get?
thanks for your help
James

I'm not a genius when it comes to cars but if your breaks are still working fine there shouldn't be that much of an issue. If anything you might have to replace your pads which can be done for fairly cheap and you can pick up Audi A8 rotos for around $500 or less depending on where you look.

You're fine. If your brakes are currently working, no worries. Worst that would have happend would have been the e-brake would have burnt out and damage to the rotors.
Have no worries man, I used to do this ALL THE TIME to a honda on accident, never did anything to that.

Audi's use the rear brake pads to engage the e-brake. Just give it a couple of hard stops to get rid of the glazing you might have accumulated on the rotors. If the rear pads still have 5mm or more on them, then its nothing to worry about.

Thanks guys that was music to my ears. The only thing I have noticed since is that one of the breaks rubs.
Auditech97: Can I take it from what you said that the A6 does not have drum breaks on the rear wheels for the parking/Ebreak? does it still pull them on using steel cables?
