Default Default dash information not shown

I am not 100% sure if the mechanic did this, but I did notice it tonight (and I replaced an ABS sensor yesterday at the mechanic). Anyway the dash display (where you are told about the current playing station and the gas mileage remaining) is off. However its not burnt out since when I turn the car on I get the usual "brake pedal before putting the car in another gear" message and if I push down one of the buttons I get a small diagnostic.

Any ideas why I am not getting the while driving dash display? 1998 A6Q Sedan.

It's a feature. You can turn it back on (and off again) using the small button on the bottom of the right side steering whell stalk.

Nope. The button I'm speaking of is on the right side stalk near the steering wheel (you use the left side one for your turn signal). On the bottom edge of it, there is a small button that toggles on/off the info display.
