Default Kevin - you are just a crabby hater. Get lost.

Not sure what your beef is. I posted this here and audiworld.com and have no interest in selling devices. I've bought stuff from bumperplugs and they deserve a plug for good service and support.

I thought it would be good to post about as many people complain that they don't know how to install the Dension GW500 and wind up getting overcharged by stereo installers and stealerships for a pretty straightforward install.

Just because my first post out of the box is a big one, you get skeptical, which I have trouble understanding.

For those new members here that don't like his static, cruise on over to audiworld.com - the crew there is substantially more friendly.

Geez.

You got the wrong impression about him, and that's a pretty lame shot. Why would he hate YOU or your DIY?
I think you got yourself lost already... in your own agenda.

As suggested before, there's already a forum that deals with ads, commercial promotions, sales, etc.
Constant attempts to promote a $ 500 commercial product not very popular - (by the way, nobody before your Audiworld-transplanted thread mentioned this $ 500 "miracle" product on this particular forum) by people whose singular posts are just about scribbling the product's name is pretty tiresome for people who like order and common sense.
Pork meat looks enticing when is fresh on the grocery shelves. However, seeing pigs roaming in the mud on a daily basis may render someone's appetite foul, and rather consider a Porterhouse steak instead.

That's a pretty farfetched argument. As said before, for the past 5 1/2 months nobody mentioned in the A6 forum (on THIS WEBSITE) the French gateway 500.
And even if that was the case in here (which it isn't), a single click on the product manufacturer's web page would bring about Installation Guide.
It also can be found exactly on the same link website (Enfig) that one of the promoters posted...
Pretty transparent crap...

Chefro -- again with the belittling attitude. I am not sure why you assume that I was asking a question to hawk a product, because I was and am not. I have zero affiliation with any car related business.

As far as judging people from my second post -- I simply wanted a quick response to a legitimate question, but instead received responses of "WTF Noob?" and "effing stupid." I thought this was an Audi forum, not a middle school facebook page but I guess I misjudged from my very first post.

I also did check the links posted by my fellow noobs and it was not immediately clear that the product is compatible with a 2006 a6. The various references that I saw related to the 2005 a6 -- which I assumed would probably make it compatible to the 2006 a6 but it doesn't hurt to ask, which is why I did.

Now that I have gotten that off my chest -- another "legitimate" question. You obviously think the Denison 500 is a piece of crap. Not sure why but I will take your word for it. Assuming that I want to control an ipod through the MMI because the only music that I have is on an ipod, is there another product out there that would work with an 06 A6, or is this it?

If you have or not an affiliation with anything that's your own prerogative.
I asked you a legitimate question, and it was in no case a belittling attitude.
Youngsters mostly and gamers use the term "noob" in a very deliberate manner exactly to belittle counterparts without experience. That's why I asked you seriously how old are you?
However, although ironical questions cannot qualify as proof of attitude or ganging up with the product's promoters against Kevin,
I am new here and not familiar with the lingo. What is this term "noob" and "newbie" that is being used frequently by the more senior posters? Is it German and perhaps there is a link you can direct me to.
, I admit I should have let the Dension feud unfold without my contribution...

Nevertheless, I found making qualifying presumtions/assumptions (at that particular point in time) regarding the older posters of this forum a little bit condescending, especially from your second post.
To ask retroactively your ironical question, the senior posters of this forum DO NOT use "noobs" on a regular basis. It was the first time when someone called someone else a "noob" in the 5 1/2 months since I have been member of this place.

As far as myself, "AGAIN with the belittling attitude" sounds like you were my "victim" under a different alias - although I wouldn't remember. Is that the case or was just a slip of the tongue?
I don't belittle people, but I do use sarcasm at times especially when people become rude.

Even with the risk of being labeled as "belittling", I must say that if you really CHECKED the Enfig link, you shouldn't have had trouble SEEING the "COMPATIBILITY" chart exactly on the product's page.
There's an installation Guide there, and also a Video. I mean, it is right there for anyone to see it. Anyone that is for real interested in installing the product, that is...
What were you saying about Middle School? You indeed misjudged this forum's members.

Sure thing there are other products out there.

Chefro -- I actually did check the Enfig link before my original post, and in retrospect your right it does seem pretty clear from the chart on the link that the system is compatible with the 06 a6. I also looked at the video before my original post, which states that it is being installed on an 05 a6, which is where my confusion originally lied.

You are also right that I probably unfairly responded to your original post to me -- when instead Kevin and Jackmup were the ones that were name calling. I don't believe I have misjudged those two -- but I guess you never know.

In any event, thanks for the info and my flaming days are now officially over (at least as it relates to this thread)

I am skeptical because of:

Poster-----------Join Date-----Date of First------Percentage of Member's total posts
------------------------------Post in Thread------contained in this thread

Gundo-----------10/27/08-------10/27/08--------------100%*

Bojacob---------12/14/08-------12/14/08--------------100%

Brio-------------1/4/09----------1/4/09----------------100%

Smart799--------3/31/09--------3/31/09---------------100%

Nokeypokey------5/17/09--------5/17/09---------------100%

Cab Madog-------5/17/09--------5/17/09---------------100%

* - Gundo, 100% of your posts were in this thread until today, when you finally got around to posting elsewhere after signing up for the forum nearly 7 months ago.

What is the likelihood that six seperate forum members posting on this thread on the very first day they join the forum?

What is the likelihood that all six forum members never post on any other thread?

Forgive me for being skeptical, but I suspect that there is a salesman posing as several posters on this thread.

Default Stop posting and they'll go away

We Know what they are and that is what they want.
To stay at the top of the list.

Your trying to sell an IPOD thing to a bunch of gear heads staring at a pile of LED ZEP tapes.

Marketing 101 ********; reach your target audience!
and then sell them **** for the cars THEY drive.

Ignorance is bliss.

By the way the most sought after personnel in a bad economy are good sales people. Since you like to mess around on-line here's a link; Do us all a favor!

Default This is about reputation.

This is all about reputation, and I've built one over the years that is well documented and the inverse of what you are suggesting.

I've got no idea why people signed up and posted first to my thread. There isn't exactly a ton of traffic on this site, so I posted in the main Audi forum. My bad. Honestly, I'd forgotten about the entire site, as I spend most of my time at audiworld.com

I would imagine it is pretty easy to check their ip addresses, and I imagine you'll quickly see that they are all different. Perhaps they googled the topic and the post came up.

I've been posting for years on www.ppbb.com (as Gundo) and have had success installing iPods, bluetooth and the associated adapters in Boxsters and 911s

Over the years, I've been hosting tech sessions at my own house (here in Connecticut) to help forum members learn about a variety of pretty complex maintenance procedures on Porsches. Check out www.tsbl.org

You may also check into 6speed and rennlist, other locations that I've been posting at for years.

I was happy to learn that the same fiber optic MOST system is used in 2006+ Audis, and once I figured out that there is a better option than the lousy AMI, I was stoked, and wanted to post about it.

Given all this, you can take or leave my advice. At this point, it would be just as easy to delete the thread as the crew of locals here seems to love a conspiracy theory.

Thumbs down This forum sucks

Or as we say here in Canada at the Dension 500 sales headquarters
"ce forum est pas très bonne. Contrairement à nos connectivy kit ipod qui est très bien."

(Sorry Gundo, I'm not really helping am I..)

I googled "Dension 500" and it took me to Gundo's post (Sorry, but I have better things to do than trawl through a load of web pages posted by men talking about their cars... [yawn])

I think its time to close this B rate site and admit that AudiWorld is the way to go.

Cheers.
