I have a 2002 A6 3.0 V6 Quattro and I suspect the PCV. On cars I'm familiar with the PCV is small. The one on this car is several inches round, shaped like a pancake. Can I shake this to tell if it is gummed up like I can on the ones I'm familiar with? Or do they work completely differently? Thanks.

 

It will usually make a weird noise when it fails, kind of like a light tooting sound.

But yes, you can take it off and clean it/unplug it.
