Does anyone here have their CATs removed?

Arrow Does anyone here have their CATs removed?

I just found out that the 4.2 I recently bought has all the catalytic converters removed. I know some people do this for an increase in performance so I was wondering if there is any way around the CEL associated with it. Thanks in advance for any info.

You should be able to weld on a second bung to piggie back the current one, that should remove the O2 sensor from the direct exhaust stream and stop you from throwing codes, I believe that you can buy something from ECS that does the same thing

If you don't have emmisions in that state you can try adding spacers between the sensors and the pipes, or putting non fouler O2 sensors in.

So the basic idea is to keep move the tip of the 02 sensor further out of the pipe? DOes the 02 CEL set off anything else in this car?

That O2 sensor just tells the ECM that the Cat is or is not working. Basically the ECM is expecting a certain voltage back from it. Too much CO2 and you will have a higher reading, too much O2 and it will be lower. So you can either adjust it in and out to trick it for about $5 with a spark plug anti fouler from any auto store.
This is the last O2 sensor you after, the one after the Cat. The front two are for air/fuel ratio, don't mess with those.

Right now it's getting hit with too much CO2.
Keep in mind they should be called CO2 sensors because they work by sending current through the CO2 not the O2. O2 is non-conductive

Heres the way to do a fouler:

explanation on O2 sensors here;

Let us know how it works out. I might need to do this one day.
