I'm sorry for all the trouble you're having, and what kind of engine do you have?

 

Hey, I just wanted to bump this thread up just in case anyone else runs into the same situation. I was finally able to find an independent shop that wasnā€™t too intimidated to try to fix my car. After one week and $995, sheā€™s running good as new! Someone in the other thread (sorry, I forgot who, but you know who you are! LOL) suggested I take my car to European Cars Limited in Houston. Great group of guys, and they kept chugging until they found it. The dealer had said I needed $3500-4300 for new cam adjusters, belts, etcā€¦ I thank GOD that I didnā€™t let them fix my car. It turned out to be a new timing belt tensioner and a new cam shaft position sensor (along with letting them do the 40K tune up. They said it had nothing to do with the Royal Purple oil change. Sheā€™s been driven hard for about 500 miles, and sheā€™s doing great, no more Check Engine Light!! Yeah!

 

Continued....So, yesterday, I fired off an email to Audi of America. I griped how can you expect me to have confidence in your cars and dealership when they are a bunch of thieves that donā€™t know how to fix their own cars!! (Too much? LOL) I told them I wanted a refund for all the other times I had brought in the car for he exact same thing in the course of 2 months, plus the rental car fees.

 

They basically told me to go pound sand, and to take it up with the dealership, if I wanted a refund.

 

Hi. I'm glad to hear your baby is back in good health. I thought the issue you described was a bad cam position sensor and Ifeel good knowing the dealer didn't get over on you by pulling a fast one at your expense!! Enjoy the car and I wish you many miles of trouble free motoring

 

Thanks! She's been behaving herself and is back to normal. As a matter of fact, I just now finished detailing her, and she looks brand new. Not bad for a car that's 6 years old. LOL

STILL HARD TIME POSTING! HOW MUCH LONGER? JEEZ.

 

One slight pet peeveā€¦ WTF was Audi thinking when they opted to paint plastic? Iā€™m talking about the controls for the radio/ac/tempā€¦ The black paint wears off and looks horrible and cheap. Grea t job there Audi! Has anyone tried fixing the control panel? Maybe some sort of flat black paint? Black tape? LOL Any suggestions? Even the column looks all scratched up. Eh.

 

Hey so did your motor sound funny before you fixed it? like loud tick/slap/knock sound at idle?

 

No. I had no funny noises at all. I couldn't even tell anything was wrong except for the light, and very rarely, it would lose power from misfiring? I think that's why it took so long for it to be correctly diagnosed.
