Drive-in vs. mail-away ECU upgrades?
I am shopping and researching the ECU upgrade and was wondering if anyone could give me some insight. My Audi A6 is all stock and I am tempted to upgrade the ECU with an APR or GIAC program along with a TBB and DV(s) upgrade. A lot of places let you send in the ECU through the mail in order to do the upgrade. What advantages and disadvantages are there to mailing the ECU vs. driving to a local tuner shop? I am kind of leary about sending my car's computer out in the mail to a far off destination. There are a lot of good shops out state though. Also, dumb newb question, but what about flashing vs. soldering? To me, the flash seems like the "cleaner" way of doing things. Any thoughts? Advice? Thanks!

I'm in the Los Angeles area 90250. I was thinking the close shops were the way to go so long as I can find a reputable shop. The closest shop to me got some negative feedback for customer service issues.

APR will give you a direct port software download (30 day ?) free trial. Scroll down to the bottom of this page http://www.goapr.com/Audi/products/directport.html. Free is good
