I replaced the tcm in my 01 a6 2.7t tiptronic because of other issues it worked great for 3 blocks then went back into limp mode no reverse and now it trys to drive in park or neutral im at wits end. Any ideas

 

So replaced with another one and then it kicks you in limp mode after 3 blocks.

Check the connectors and wiring going to TCM for breaks, cuts or corrosion.

If none are found then try resetting the faults with vag com
The TCM sent a signal to the ECU and the ECU trigger limp mode.
So swapping the TCM will fix the problem but you still need to clear the codes.

If that didn't fix the issue take it to a indie shop.

 

But would that make it not have reverse?

 

When i put it in reverse today it went in but wont move and revs out at 2k-2.5k it almost feels like parking brake is on

 

Maybe be reverse drum is broke? It's a common failure on this tranny.
