Default DRL Bulb Replacement

I need to replace the fog light/driving lights located in the front bumper. After some scanning of this forum, I found some information but it was not quite as specific as I'd like. I was wondering if I could get some questions cleared up. I drive an 01' A6 4.2 .

First, to get to the fog-light , I noticed I have to get the plastic air dam thingy off. Some have said it pops straight out (by pulling), (on A4 articles) but I've also seen diagrams of a screwdriver being used to presumably trigger a catch and then perhaps lift it out. How does it actually go out? Does one have to use force to simply yank it out (I'm afriad of cracking the plastic) or does that catch need to be pushed in/down/left/right by a screwdriver before it is lifted out. I'll assume it snaps right back in as well.

I also noticed a post stating that the assembly was held in by TORX screws of sizes 8-15. Are these of the "anti-tamper" type with the raised dot in the centre that I frustratingly came across when trying to clean out the MAF?(and had to abort that project) If so, I need to stop there and pick up a set first.

Finally, what kind of bulb does it use? I'm getting the impression that H1, H3 or H7 bulbs will work after visiting various auto parts websites, however, I noticed a post on the RS6 stating that H3 bulbs did not work and H7s did. As well, the RS6 obviously has a different front air dam design, but looks like it has a similar Valeo Fog-Light Assembly.

I suppose these are yes/no questions that would really set me in the right direction. I really appreciate any input provided.

Thanks!

1. Fog light "plastic air dam thingy" comes off by simply pulling it towards you, (the first time I did it I thought I was going to break the plastic too, but it came out. A good tip is to pull at the sides and not the center imo)

2. I dont know what size torx bolts hold the assembally in place, sorry, but here's diagram showing the location of said bolts.

Thats all my library's online autorepair manual had. [sm=lame.gif]

Thanks for the reply, the cover did come off by pulling, though I used the jack-supplied screwdriver to push and pull the catch upwards, then once the bottom edge of the cover had play, I yanked it out hard and it came out easy.

I was wrong, also, the screws are standard philips head units, no problem there.

Was an H3 bulb, too, overall, easy fix there.
