Electric Windows Problem

Electric Windows Problem
My car is an Audi A6 2.5TDI 1999 Avant.
Over the last week, I have come back to my car and a couple of times all of the windows were down and the doors were unlocked.
This is very concerning to say the least.
I had a new battery fitted a couple of weeks ago and I know the drivers side window is a bit stiff. It has been like this for over a year and I rarely open the driver's window anyway.
Does anyone have any solutions apart from spending $$$$$$$'s at my main dealer.
Is it something that needs resetting such as my remote control key or something similar?
I have searched the internet without much success. It seems this occurs quite often, but I am yet to find a common solution.
Any bright ideas?

RE: Electric Windows Problem
Just a complete guess but how about a bad central locking computer. Here is my reasoning behind this: the keyfob can put all the windows down and unlock the doors. How about a bad drivers door ??lock switch?? the car thinks the key is in the door in the unlock position, and holding it there causes the windows to go down.
That's all I can think of. Don't ask me how or where, but you could unplug the central locking computer and see if it still does it.

RE: Electric Windows Problem
Its possible the central locking control module could be bad, but modules rarely fail un-less hit by water. My guess would be a micro switch in one of the door latches is malfuctioning. You can check them with the VAG COM, or the dealer can find out which one is not registering being closed/and or open.

Thanks for the data.
I will try them all out.
Also, I keep hearing about this vag com software thing.
Is it worth the money? Any alternatives?
Does it really help?
Is it reasonably easy to use?
Any comments would be appreciated - thanks.

The VAG COM software is worth its weight in gold, you can check just about every control module in the car for faults and manually activate systems.
It will virtually pay for itself the first time you get a check engine light. Its a must have if you DIY.
