I'm shopping for an '02 or later A6 Avant, most seem to come with the 3.0 engine. Does anyone here live at high altitude? I live at 5000' and drive up into the mountains a lot. I'm wondering how the power is at altitude, and if the 2.7T wouldn't be a better engine choice for this area(Bozeman, Mt.). I've been driving turbo cars for 16 years now, 10 of those years at over 8000', so I'm a little worried about losing power. I believe it's 2% loss per 1000' gain in elevation. I will be modifying the car, either one, as long as the mods don't affect the warranty. Are there more HP upgrades available for one engine over the other? Thanks [sm=smiley5.gif]

 

Go with the 2.7T engine.
You will be happy with it if you like turbos
